From Damian Duruiheoma, Enugu

A major show of grassroots support is building in Enugu State ahead of the 2027 general elections, as a political pressure group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ifediche Political Family, has unveiled plans for a 10,000-man solidarity march in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah.

The march, scheduled for April 4, 2027, at Oji River Urban, is part of a broader mobilisation strategy aimed at consolidating support for President Tinubu’s re-election while reinforcing Governor Mbah’s development-driven leadership in the state.

Beyond the presidential and gubernatorial endorsements, the rally will also serve as a platform to project the House of Representatives ambition of Mazi Dr. Ezenwa A.A. Onyirimba for the Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency.

Director General of the group, Evangelist Dr. Walter Madu, disclosed the plan during the inauguration of local government coordinators and ward executives of the organisation at Sacred Heart Church, Inyi, in Oji River Local Government Area.

Madu explained that participants for the march would be mobilised from Aninri, Awgu, and Oji River councils, noting that the initiative reflects the group’s leader's vision to deepen APC’s grassroots presence across Enugu West Senatorial District.

He stressed that the solidarity march is rooted in growing appreciation for President Tinubu’s interventions in the Southeast, particularly in infrastructure renewal and regional development efforts.

According to him, ongoing reconstruction of critical federal roads such as the Enugu-Onitsha and Enugu-Port Harcourt expressways, alongside other projects, demonstrates a renewed federal commitment to the region under Tinubu’s leadership.

He further highlighted the President's signing of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) bill into law, describing it as a landmark move expected to channel more resources into the zone's development.

Madu maintained that such strides have strengthened confidence among grassroots supporters, making a strong case for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

On the state front, he commended Governor Mbah’s transformation agenda, citing the revival of key state assets, rollout of Smart Schools and Type-2 healthcare facilities across wards, and improved urban transportation through the BRT system.

The group also pointed to Onyirimba’s ongoing community interventions, including borehole rehabilitation, agricultural support programmes, and youth-focused digital training initiatives, as evidence of his readiness for national legislative responsibilities.

Leaders of the group, including the women and youth wings, pledged full mobilisation for the solidarity march, expressing confidence that turnout would exceed expectations as residents rally behind President Tinubu’s leadership and the APC’s vision for continued progress.
