Eleven people have been confirmed dead while 32 others were injured in a multiple auto crash at Panshanu Hill along the Bauchi–Jos Federal Highway.

The Bauchi State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident in a Road Traffic Crash (RTC) report made available to journalists in Bauchi yesterday.

The victims were reportedly burnt when the vehicles went up in flames following the collision involving two vehicles.

The report, prepared by the RS12.14 Toro Unit Command, indicated that the crash occurred on Friday, April 17, 2026, at about 6:40 p.m. It was reported to the FRSC at 6:44 p.m., while personnel arrived at the scene at 6:54 pm.

According to the report, the vehicles involved were a white MAN mini-tanker belonging to the Nigeria Police and a white Fiat J5 Boxer commercial bus with registration number KTU624XY.

The FRSC stated that the crash occurred on a single carriageway with an unpaved section, while the probable causes were identified as dangerous driving and worn-out tyres.

A total of 43 persons were involved in the crash, comprising 12 male adults, 19 female adults, five male children and seven female children.

Out of the number, 32 persons sustained injuries, including one male adult, 19 female adults, five male children and seven female children.

The 11 persons killed included one male adult, three male children, five female adults and two female children.

The FRSC said the obstruction caused by the crash had been cleared while the injured victims were taken to Toro General Hospital for medical attention.

The bodies of those killed were also deposited at the same facility.

The Corps added that the Nigeria Police had been informed of the incident, while the rescue operation was led by SRC U.S. Hamisu.
