Fourteen aspirants are contesting the ticket of All Progressives Congress (APC) for Oredo East constituency seat.

Chairman of the party in Oredo Local Government, Osamudiamen Osaruenkhoe, said this when he received one of the aspirants, Iziegbeuwa Irene.

Osaruenkhoe told Iziegbeuwa that politics was not a do or die affair, hoping she might emerge victorious since more women were mobilising support for her.

She said she was at the APC secretariat to inform party leaders of her desire to contest the House of Assembly seat to represent Oredo East constituency.

She promised to empower women, assist elders and youths and push for policies so that Edo could be one that stood as a production hub for the country.

She said: “On a yearly basis, I engage with the women in my community. It is not enough for women to be present, but there is need for women to be represented. I am a woman; I have a mother and grandmother who I love very well.

“Before I think of running for this position, I have been involved in community development. We run small acquisition where we feed people since 2020, but I have done it privately since 2014.

“We are also building a smart city on Airport Road. So I believe in the growth of Edo, and I believe Edo can be one that stands as a production hub for the entire nation.

“I have been involved in youth development. I run a youth care global organisations to create a safe haven where we help young people to transit into adulthood. I have run entrepreneurship programme for women.

“The goal for me is to continuously do my best. If I had done that in my capacity as a private person, I feel the need to do more. So, in order for me to do more, I need a bigger platform to do more so that I truly represent the great people of Oredo East.”
