In the heart of Accra’s bustling nightlife, the 2026 edition of the Africa Living Legends was held under the chandeliers of the elegant AH Hotel on February 21, 2026, in Accra, Ghana.

The event had a constellation of Africa’s brightest stars gathered for an evening that remained memorable for the attendees.

The 2026 African Living Legends Awards, in the usual practice, was dedicated to honoring Africans who have quietly or boldly shaped the continent’s future, and the edition drew a select crowd of trailblazers from across Africa.

From entrepreneurs revolutionizing tech to activists championing social justice, the living legends were celebrated not just for their achievements, but for their enduring commitment to a better Africa.

Powered by Elation Magazine, Royal International Magazine, and Elation Communications, the event was a testament to the power of recognition in a continent often overshadowed by global narratives of struggle. “This isn’t just about handing out plaques,” said Darlinghtyn Momoh Umoru, the convener and director of honors, in his opening address. “It’s about acknowledging the enormous contributions these individuals have made to Africa’s development. We urge them to do even better, as this honor comes with the responsibility to elevate our continent further in their respective fields.”

Some of those honoured at the event included Nigerian boxer, Ike Ibeabuchi, former Northern Regional Director of Education, Alhaji Mohammed Haroon, and 13 other achievers and African legends.

The recipients - 13 men and three women - were inducted into the Africa’s Living Legend Hall of Fame. The three women were conferred with the Mother Africa Merit Award.

Speaking further on the award, Umoru said, “Personally, if we have to award, I know about 70 people in this hall who deserve the award, who should be awarded, but the second phase will be coming on and everybody will be awarded.”
