...reaffirms commitment to development, effective representation
Kenny Ekenechukwu Okolugbo, former Consultant and Adviser on Communications and Strategy to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed strong interest in representing Ndokwa Nation in the House of Representatives in 2027.
Okolugbo said he remains committed to serving his people and advancing development in the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency.
Addressing residents of Ndokwa Nation, he disclosed that he had received numerous calls from across the constituency urging him to contest for the seat, noting that he was humbled by the confidence reposed in him.
He recalled his first attempt to represent the constituency in 2003 when, at 30, he contested for the seat, describing himself at the time as politically inexperienced but driven by a strong passion for service.
Okolugbo added that although he finished second in the election, the experience exposed him to the scale of poverty and neglect across the 30 wards in Ndokwa Nation.
According to him, visits to communities such as Okpai, Abala, Emu and Umuebu exposed him to the harsh realities of underdevelopment, including lack of roads, electricity and other basic infrastructure despite the area’s vast natural resources and contributions to the national treasury.
Okolugbo said those experiences shaped his resolve to continue working for the people and ensuring that Ndokwa gets its fair share of federal presence and development.
He pointed to his tenure as Commissioner in DESOPADEC, representing part of Ndokwa West and the entirety of Ukwuani, where he said he delivered over 90 projects covering schools, markets, health centres, hospitals, water projects, street lights and empowerment initiatives such as the provision of tricycles.
He also highlighted his private investments in the area, including the Obiaruku Mall, which houses ten flats, an events hall, a hotel, a swimming pool and a soon-to-be-completed centre approved by JAMB as an examination centre.
According to him, his role as Consultant and Adviser on Communications and Strategy to the President of the 10th Senate further strengthened his understanding of legislative work and gave him access to federal channels through which he facilitated projects such as the rehabilitation of the Abraka-Obiaruku road, installation of street lights, transformer projects and NDDC pavilion projects worth over N3 billion for Ndokwa West and Ukwuani.
He said these interventions reflected his long-standing commitment to the development of Ndokwa Nation and his readiness to do more if given the opportunity to serve in the National Assembly.
Okolugbo, however, noted that after extensive consultations with leaders across the constituency, he had resolved to respect the existing unwritten zoning arrangement currently being observed within the political structure of the area.
He said while he remains willing and prepared to represent Ndokwa Nation, he believes that leadership must also be guided by unity, consultation and collective interest.
“I am most humbled by your trust and belief in my capacity to lead the charge for our people in the Green Chambers,” he said.
He expressed appreciation to the leaders of Ndokwa Nation in government for the numerous consultations they held, describing them as sincere engagements focused on the future of Ndokwa Nation.
He also thanked members of his support base for their unwavering loyalty and confidence in his leadership.
“The Ndokwa Nation’s best days are ahead. I remain committed to her progress in every way I can,” he said.
