The wait is over for Nationwide League One fans as the season-opening match gets under way on Friday, April 10, 2026.

Flight FC and NYSC FC, both Benue-based clubs, clash at the McCarthy Stadium, Makurdi, in a fixture that underscores the NLO's commitment to bringing football closer to fans in underserved communities.

Dr. Olushola Ogunnowo, Chief Operating Officer of Africa's largest grassroots league, expressed confidence ahead of the new campaign.

"The football excitement is nearing fever pitch as the curtain rises on the new season's opening game at the McCarthy Stadium.

"The Secretariat launched the new season with the release of groupings — numbering 46 — and an expansion of NLO activities to all states and the FCT. The full fixtures will be released next week.

"The NLO has also re-launched its website as part of a wider digital transformation designed to deliver a personalized and engaging experience for clubs and fans.

"Supporting this ongoing transformation, the NLO has entered into a partnership with Zkyte Technology, reflecting our commitment to innovation.

"We look forward to continuing to evolve the Nationwide League One in the years ahead to meet the ever-changing needs of our stakeholders."
