Residents of Irewole and Isokan staged a solidarity walk over the weekend in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the 2026 Osun State gubernatorial election.

The procession, which began at Ikoyi Abiri Junction, passed through Apomu and concluded in Ikire, also served to honor the late Irewole Council Chairman, Hon. Remi Abass, who was killed during the local government control crisis.

Speaking during the event, APC Chairman for Irewole Local Government, Hon. Owoade Adegoke, said the walk was aimed at mobilizing and sensitizing party supporters ahead of the August 8, 2026, poll.

“We are here to mobilize our people and sensitize them for the upcoming election. Our candidate comes from this local government, and we are hopeful. The party is formidable, and Bola Oyebamiji is competent for the task ahead,” he stated.

Similarly, Youth Leader Fisayo Ayobami expressed confidence in Oyebamiji’s victory, saying, “We have full confidence that Oyebamiji will win the election victoriously on August 8, 2026.”

Alhaji Idris Olayinka, Chairman of the Idris Oyeleke Foundation, noted that the walk—strategically held on Valentine’s Day—was intended to bring the candidate closer to the grassroots and symbolize collective support.

“This is about showing love to our son and brother. The turnout and enthusiasm clearly indicate he will emerge victorious. This is a collective effort across Ikire, Irewole, Isokan, Ayedaade, and beyond,” he said.

The Women Leader of Irewole, Moyeloye Morufat, highlighted the warm reception by traders and market leaders, urging women and all eligible residents to support Oyebamiji and ensure they obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the election. “Everybody was happy and accepted AMBO. He has promised to make things easier for women, and I call on all women to support him fully,” she added.
