The Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) Southern APC states chapter has unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The body made this statement at the first edition of the ALGON Southern Forum held in Ikeja, Lagos.

The meeting included chairmen and representatives of local governments across the APC - controlled Southern states.

Speaking on behalf of the association, Deputy National President of ALGON and Imo State ALGON Chairman, Ikenna Tony Adikaibe, explained that the body's decision to endorse President Tinubu followed extensive deliberations on issues of national importance and governance at the Southern APC states chapter.

He said, "After a thorough and objective assessment of the leadership and policies of the current administration, the association acknowledged the ongoing efforts and strides recorded in key sectors impacting national growth and grassroots development.

"Consequently and in the interest of continuity, stability, and sustained development, the association unanimously endorses President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria."

The association reaffirmed its commitment to supporting policies and programmes that promote good governance, economic growth, and improved welfare for citizens at the grassroots.

The forum also calls on all Nigerians, stakeholders, and political actors to continue to support initiatives that foster unity, peace, and national progress.

Chairman, ALGON for Lagos State and Chairman of Ibeju -Lekki local government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, stated the reason for the formation of the association.

He said, "It has become imperative for all leaders of local government across the south to come together and forge a common position on the issues that bother our nation and also our member states."

The entire southern ALGON forum passed a vote of confidence on the current chairman, Bello Lawal.
