A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Khamis Musa Darazo, has urged party leaders at both national and state levels to consider Dr. Bala Mai Jama’a Wunti as a possible consensus candidate for the Bauchi State governorship ahead of the 2027 elections.
Darazo said his position is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he noted prioritises effective governance, economic recovery and improved service delivery nationwide.
He stressed that Bauchi State requires leadership capable of translating federal policies into tangible outcomes at the grassroots, adding that unity within the party would be critical to its electoral prospects in 2027.

Describing Dr. Wunti as a figure with considerable administrative experience and strong public engagement, Darazo said such attributes should weigh in the party’s decision-making process.
He further argued that adopting a consensus approach could minimise internal rivalry and strengthen cohesion within the APC in the state ahead of the polls.
According to him, deliberations on the party’s governorship ticket should be guided by the need for unity and broad acceptability among key stakeholders.
