Ebonyi State indigenes residing in Lagos at the weekend staged a large-scale solidarity rally in support of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, endorsing his re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The event, which  held at Ebonyi House in Maryland, Lagos, was convened by Nwigwe Chibueze Uzo, Chief Executive Officer of Omni Group, under the platform of Omni Grassroot Ambassadors (OGA).

It drew a wide cross-section of Ebonyi indigenes, including traders, professionals, artisans, and community leaders.

The rally, themed “Uniting Ebonyians for the Re-election of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru,” served as a platform to consolidate diaspora support for the governor’s second term ambition.

Participants filled the venue to capacity, expressing support through chants and songs, while commending the governor’s leadership and developmental initiatives across the state.

In his address, Uzo described the gathering as a strategic move to mobilise Ebonyi indigenes in Lagos and beyond in support of continuity in governance.

He praised Nwifuru’s administration, citing its focus on infrastructure, education, security, and welfare under the “People’s Charter of Needs.”

"We are here to send a loud and clear message to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, that Ebonyians in Lagos and everywhere are solidly behind him. We have seen the transformation; we have felt the impact of his leadership.

"The Omni Grassroot Ambassadors are committed to mobilizing every eligible voter from our state, whether residing here in Lagos, other cities or in Ebonyi, to ensure that continuity is achieved in 2027,” Nwigwe stated.

The rally also featured endorsements and vote of confidence for two federal lawmakers: Kama Nkemkanma, representing Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo Federal Constituency, and Anthony Okorie Ani of Ebonyi South Senatorial District.

Attendees backed their bids to return to the National Assembly, citing their legislative performance and contributions to constituency development.

Speakers at the event emphasized the need for continuity in representation, noting that retaining experienced lawmakers would help sustain development efforts in the state.

Uzo also used the occasion to express support for the Minister of Works, David Nweze Umahi, urging critics to refrain from distracting him from his national assignment.

The rally concluded with a collective pledge by leaders of Ebonyi town unions in Lagos to mobilize support for the endorsed candidates.

Organizers described the turnout as a sign of growing political unity among Ebonyi stakeholders in the diaspora ahead of the 2027 elections.
