Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has announced the senator representing Nasarawa West, Aliyu Ahmed Wadada, as his preferred governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party primaries.

Sule announced his preferred candidate yesterday at the Conference Hall of the Government House in Lafia at a meeting with all the political appointees serving in his administration.

The governor, who was elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2023, will complete his second term next year.

He said Senator Wadada is the best person to succeed him in 2027 to sustain his legacy.

Sule said he settked for Wadada after due and deligent consultants among critical stakeholders within and outside the state.

The governor described Wadada as the real Muje Maha and sought the support of all APC stalwarts and members to make Wadada the party’s governorship candidate and elect him alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

He urged all the political appointees and APC stakeholders, youths, and women to go back to their communities to support Wadada as the APC governorship candidate.

Sule said he was convinced that Wadada would perform well in office.

The governor said he was ready to dare whoever goes against his choice, promising to do everything humanly possible to ensure Wadada wins the APC governorship ticket and wins the general election.

He directed the sack of his two appointees for attempting to go against his support for Wadada.

Sule said he had zoned the governorship ticket ket of the APC to Nasarawa West Senatorial District, where aspirants like Wadada, former chairman of NPHCDA, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, a former NASENI Chairman, Prof. Sani Haruna, a former Accountant General of the State, Dr. Ahmed Musa Muhammad, hail from.

Wadada is a two-term former member of the House of Representatives representing Karu, Kokona, Keffi Federal Constituency from 2003 to 2011.

But a former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Adamu, who hails from Nasarawa South, has vowed to participate in the primaries.
