Ahead of the 2027 general election in Ogun State, a pressure group under the aegis of Ketu Intelligentsia Forum (KIF) has thrown its weight behind Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as its preferred candidate for the governorship election in the state.

The endorsement was announced in a press release made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, jointly signed by the group’s chairman, Dr Ayilara Muraina,  Secretary General, Prince Sola Bamigbade, and the Director, Strategy & Mobilisation, AbdLateef Olusoji-Emilandu. Dr Muraina, who described the group as a collective of academic professionals, accomplished private sector players, seasoned administrators, and grassroots advocates dedicated to the socio-economic advancement of the Yewa-Ketuland and the broader Ogun State.

“As we approach the 2027 general elections, it has become necessary to clearly state our position in the overall interest of our people, and the region deserves a breath of fresh air. We need a governor who understands the daily realities of our people—youths, artisans, traders, and professionals," the statement said.

The group which formally endorsed GNI of the APC, from Yewa-Ketuland, described him as a credible, youthful, and people-oriented aspirant with a deep understanding of the district’s challenges.

The group explained that the endorsement followed extensive consultations, careful evaluations, and consideration of the aspirant’s commitment to people-driven governance.

The statement said the group was built upon the foundation of intellectual rigour and communal integrity, noting that the Forum serves as a non-partisan think tank focused on policy advocacy, leadership grooming, and the preservation of the "Omoluabi" values of the broader Yoruba community.

"Indeed, our mandate is grounded in the belief that sustainable development is only possible when leadership is anchored in character and competence. KIF stands for a "Knowledge-First" approach to politics, where data-driven decision-making meets deep-seated empathy for the citizenry.

"Leadership is not a sprint; it is a marathon of conviction. GNI has demonstrated an uncommon resilience, remaining steadfast in his vision for a better Ogun State despite the shifting sands of political seasons. His consistency proves that his ambition is fueled by a genuine desire for service, not a fleeting grab for power."

The statement added: "Our decision is not grounded in sentiment or regional bias, but in a cold, clinical assessment of what Ogun State requires to navigate the complexities of the next four years, after the fruitful tenure of Prince Dapo Abiodun, in May, 2027.

"And having navigated both the private sector and the highest levels of state economic management, Prince Isiaka possesses the rare ability to bridge the gap between policy and practice. He does not need a “learning curve”; he understands the machinery of the Gateway State from the inside out."

The Forum, however, called for peaceful political participation and sustained civic engagement as Ogun State prepares for the forthcoming general elections.
