The Ndigbo for Tinubu 2027 Forum (NDI-ABAT) has commended the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) over its decision not to field a presidential candidate in next year's general elections.

In a statement, the group said the decision was not only apt and timely, but it also signalled a shift towards political pragmatism in the Southeast and created an opportunity for greater alignment with national power structures.

The statement, signed by the National Coordinator, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and Secretary-General, Dr. Ugwuoke Ugwuoke, pledged to mobilise votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“We applaud APGA for taking a strategic position that reflects the current political realities.

"This decision opens the door for deeper engagement and unified political direction for Ndigbo,” the group stated.

The group said it had set to deliver over 13 million votes from the Southeast and diaspora for Tinubu next year.

“We are committed to rallying at least 13 million votes for President Tinubu. This is an effort anchored on grassroots mobilisation, stakeholder engagement, and diaspora participation,” it said.

The group said the region has a lot to gain by aligning with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly in infrastructure development, economic opportunities, and federal inclusion, among others.

“Political alignment with the centre is critical at this stage. It is the pathway to securing tangible developmental benefits and ensuring that the Southeast is not sidelined in national affairs,” the statement added.

The group urged political leaders, traditional institutions, and youth groups in the region to embrace what it described as a forward-looking political approach.

“2027 presents a defining opportunity for Ndigbo to reposition strategically within Nigeria’s political landscape. Unity, pragmatism, and engagement must guide our decisions,” it said.

The group also highlighted the importance of the Igbo diaspora in achieving its electoral target, noting that its influence and resources remain vital.

“Our diaspora community is a critical pillar in this movement. Their involvement in mobilisation, advocacy, and investment will significantly strengthen our collective objective,” it added.

It said a regional effort would not only deliver electoral success, but also enhance the Southeast’s bargaining power in national development.
