As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections, a group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, the Kogi APC Renaissance Forum, has expressed concerns over developments it says could affect party cohesion and electoral prospects.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Adejo Emmanuel, the forum called for vigilance among party stakeholders, stressing the need to maintain unity and strengthen internal structures as preparations intensify for the forthcoming elections.

The group emphasised the importance of transparent candidate selection processes and inclusive engagement across all levels of the party to sustain its support base in the state. It noted that Kogi West Senatorial District played a significant role in the party’s performance during the 2023 presidential election and remains a key constituency.

The forum also highlighted the contributions of the current senator representing Kogi West, Sunday Steve Karimi, describing his grassroots support and alignment with the party’s leadership as important factors in consolidating the APC’s position in the district.

It further urged party leaders at both state and national levels to prioritise dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders, including elected officials and party executives, to foster unity ahead of the 2027 polls.

The group called on the national leadership of the APC to sustain internal harmony and ensure that party processes reflect broad participation, noting that this would be critical to maintaining stability and strengthening the party’s chances in the elections.
