Ahead of 2027 governorship election, groups in All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kwara South have said the state needed a prepared and people-centred leader “at a time like this when our state faces opportunities and challenges.”
The groups endorsed the governorship aspiration of former chairman of the party in the state, Bashir Bolarinwa, in the 2027 general election.
They said this at their events organised in Offa, Offa Local Government and Iloffa in Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Some political office holders, party loyalists and members of the APC in Moro, Ifelodun and Ekiti local government areas had earlier organised political meetings where they endorsed the second term ambition of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and governorship aspiration of Bolarinwa in their areas.
Speaking in Offa and Iloffa, the leader of APC Offa Solidarity Movement, Prince Olubunmi Isioye and the convener of APC Progressive Network for BOB 2027, Shittu Muideen, said the APC constitution does not support rotation or zoning of governorship position.

Ex-APC’s spokesperson in the state, Tajudeen Aro, said: “It is a constitutional right for all intending political office holders to seek mandate of the people. Zoning is a convenience agreement and not binding on the aspirants.
“There is no zoning in APC. Bolarinwa has constitutional right to contest 2027 governorship position. He worked for the success of the party in 2019 as chairman of APC in the state”.
The people described Bolarinwa as a unifier and a mobilier, saying his entry into 2027 governorship race in the state had brought back a large number of people who had hitherto left the party.
Isioye urged delegates, stakeholders, and every member of the party to rally behind “a leader who will turn our hopes into action, our vision into progress, and our dreams into lasting reality”.
