The Arewa Youth Assembly has cautioned the opposition in the country against fuelling insecurity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a press briefing on Thursday in Abuja, its Speaker, Mohammed Salihu Danlami, said if insecurity is allowed to destroy the nation, there would be no elections.

He said no quest for power is worth the collapse of the country.

Danlami said, "The troubling pattern can no longer be ignored. Every election cycle, insecurity rises to a peak across different parts of Nigeria. This is not random. It raises a fundamental, unavoidable question:

"Why is it that it is only when elections draw near, insecurity surges across the land? Pattern analysis of the last three election cycles shows the same signature: a sharp spike in kidnappings, banditry, and coordinated arson. This is not coincidence. This is coordination.

"This recurring trend points to a deliberate, sustained effort by elements within the opposition who are determined to destabilise our nation for crude political advantage. The consistent timing of these security breaches strongly suggests they are being fuelled and sustained to create fear, confusion, and distrust among the people.

"We therefore allege, with full conviction and supporting intelligence, that certain actors within the opposition are complicit in sponsoring and fuelling insecurity as a strategy to weaken the state and discredit the government.

"This is not merely reckless. It is dangerous to the very survival of Nigeria.

"Let this message be unmistakable to all involved in this destructive enterprise:

"There will be no elections without Nigeria. If insecurity is allowed to destroy the nation, then the very elections they seek to influence will cease to exist. No ambition. No political calculation. No quest for power is worth the collapse of our country.

"Let us warn clearly and finally: if this desperation is not checked immediately by the security agencies, Nigeria will face a simultaneous food, economic, and constitutional crisis from which it may never recover.

"No inauguration will hold over a nation on fire. The consequences will not "might" consume Nigeria, they will plunge us into an irreversible crisis. And ultimately, they will consume those who unleashed them.

"Those who seek to gamble with the peace and stability of this country must desist immediately. Enough is enough."

He commended the unwavering commitment of the National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and the service chiefs most especially the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede and the Chief of Army Staff, General Waidi Shaibu.

He said their leadership, courage, and sacrifice have continued to inspire confidence within the armed forces and among Nigerians.

The group passed a vote of confidence in General Olufemi Oluyede and General Waidi Shaibu, sayong under their watch, the armed forces have moved from reactive to preemptive.

"The armed forces take the battle to the enclaves of the terrorists. We have seen the body count of terrorists drop and the rescue count of citizens rise. That is the only metric that matters.

"Their dedication to duty and service to the nation deserves not only recognition but sustained backing from all well meaning citizens. They have demonstrated uncommon courage and strategic clarity since assuming their posts," the Speaker said.

"We urge President Bola Tinubu to give them even more weapons, more drones, better logistics, and real-time intelligence platforms. Let them finish the job. Let them hunt down every political bandit and terrorist operating under any banner," the group said.

The group also lauded the innovation, courage, sagacity, hardwork and bravery of the Director General of the Department of State Services, Mr Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi.

"His contributions to the flow and management of security intelligence remains pivotal to the fight against insecurity in the country," Danlami said.
