A coalition of students and student leaders under the aegis of Ogun State Students for Yayi Movement has described the emergence of Adeola Olamilekan Solomon as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship standard bearer for the 2027 general election in Ogun State as a victory for competence and progress.

In a statement issued by the group’s convener, Comrade Bamgbose Tomiwa Peter, the coalition said the development marks a significant milestone in the state’s political history, reflecting broad recognition of the senator’s years of public service, legislative impact, and commitment to development.

The group commended the lawmaker representing Ogun West Senatorial District for his sustained interventions across local government areas in the zone, describing him as a leader attuned to the needs of ordinary citizens and the aspirations of young people.

It also called on student leaders across major national bodies—including the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), Association of Southern Nigerian Students (ASONIS), National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Students (NANCES), National Association of University Students (NAUS), and National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS)—to unite in support of the candidacy ahead of the election.

According to the statement, the senator represents a prepared future anchored on education, entrepreneurship, technology, job creation, and inclusive governance. The group urged Students’ Union Governments, faculty associations, and departmental executives across tertiary institutions, as well as Ogun students in the diaspora, to mobilise support and sensitise their members.

The coalition further praised Dapo Abiodun for supporting a consensus arrangement that produced a candidate from Ogun West, noting that the move would promote balance, stability, and sustained development in the state.

“Ogun State Students for Yayi Movement declares total support for Senator Adeola Olamilekan Solomon Yayi and pledges to work tirelessly towards his victory at the polls.

We call on all party loyalists, elders, traditional rulers, artisans, market women, and passionate Ogun indigenes to join hands with us. Let us put Ogun first. Let us choose progress over division. Together, we will deliver a new era of prosperity for the Gateway State come 2027,” the coalition said.
