The Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government and Ogun State Coordinator of the Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO), Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, has unveiled a plan to secure at least one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid, alongside strong support for Senator Solomon Adeola and Governor Dapo Abiodun in the 2027 general elections.

Oyegbola-Sodipo disclosed this at a strategic meeting held on Saturday in Akomoje, Abeokuta, with TSO coordinators from all 20 local government areas of the state, noting that the organisation is intensifying grassroots mobilisation to surpass its 2023 performance.

He expressed concern over the low voter turnout recorded in the last election, revealing that only about 400,000 votes were cast, representing roughly 11 per cent of registered voters in Ogun State.

According to him, the group’s membership strength, now exceeding 50,000, is being repositioned to drive wider participation and scale support to at least one million votes in 2027.

He said the meeting was convened to brief coordinators and galvanise them towards delivering victory not only for President Tinubu but also for Senator Adeola and Governor Abiodun.

Oyegbola-Sodipo expressed optimism about the president’s re-election prospects, citing ongoing economic reforms as a strong foundation for continuity.

“The re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu is already halfway achieved based on his governance record.

“The same applies to Senator Solomon Adeola, who is well positioned as the party’s governorship candidate given his track record.

“However, voter apathy remains a challenge. In the 2023 presidential election, we recorded about 400,000 votes, representing roughly 11 per cent of registered voters. This must change in 2027, which is why we are targeting at least one million votes,” he said.

He outlined a ward-based mobilisation strategy across the state’s 236 wards, setting a minimum target of 2,000 votes per ward.

“We must remain united and committed, moving from neighbourhood to neighbourhood and house to house to mobilise support for the APC. We must also ensure that eligible voters obtain their voter cards and participate in the election to return the party to power in 2027,” he added.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the governor on Youth Affairs, Olamide Lawal, underscored the importance of youth participation in electoral processes.

He noted that young people constitute about 65 per cent of the population and urged them to take the lead in mobilisation efforts, while calling on political leaders to complement such efforts with greater inclusion in governance.

Lawal commended Oyegbola-Sodipo for encouraging youth involvement and urged other stakeholders to create more opportunities for young people to contribute to the state’s development.
