The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, and the House of Representatives member for Ayedire/Iwo/Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency, Lukman Mudashiru, have reconciled following a period during which the monarch barred the lawmaker from entering his palace.

Oba Akanbi had restricted Mudashiru’s access because the PDP lawmaker had reportedly neglected the palace since 2023.

In a statement on Tuesday, Mudashiru confirmed that the differences had been resolved, emphasising that the reconciliation aims to promote development and benefit the constituency.

“As a performing lawmaker implementing educational and empowerment initiatives aligned with the monarch’s vision for community development, some of our efforts initially surprised community stakeholders,” Mudashiru said.

The meeting that facilitated the reconciliation was organized by Iwo Board of Trustees (IBOT) President, Professor Olurode, and took place in the Oluwo’s palace hall.

During discussions, Oba Akanbi acknowledged the lawmaker’s federal-funded projects, including scholarships for indigent students, infrastructure improvements at the Federal College of Education in Iwo, road construction, streetlight installations, and provision of a vehicle for the Office of the Chief Imam of Iwoland.

The monarch also noted that misinformation from some individuals had influenced his earlier decision to impose the ban. Mudashiru expressed gratitude for Oba Akanbi’s commitment to Iwo’s development and reiterated his respect and admiration for the king.
