...say Tunji-Ojo is major motivation

Students and youths in Ondo State have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid, declaring that his performance in office will earn him another term.

The students said their decision to give President Tinubu massive support was largely influenced by the performance and leadership of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, whom they described as a major motivating factor.

The students, led by the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Ondo State, made the declaration on Thursday during a mobilisation visit to the pro-Tinubu support group, the Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG) in Akure.

Speaking on behalf of the students, the NANS JCC Chairman in the state, Comrade Mayomi Adekanye, said Dr. Tunji-Ojo’s track record has made it easy for them to canvass support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid.

“We are here because of Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. He is our leader and a trailblazer. He has brought governance closer to the people. When someone has done something good, you support such a person.

"That is why we are here today. Despite the situation in the country, canvassing our support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through him is very easy because he has been performing remarkably well," he said.

Adekanye added that the minister’s impact spans his time in the National Assembly and his current role, noting that his support for students has further strengthened their resolve.

Remarking at the event, Director-General of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, Hon. Olumuyiwa Asagunla, said the mobilisation was part of a broader grassroots strategy aimed at delivering massive votes for the president in 2027.

According to him, the group is targeting at least 95 per cent of the votes in Ondo State.

"This is proudly sponsored by Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. We are mobilising youths and students for an open declaration of support for our President.

"Right from his days in the National Assembly, he has always supported students through bursaries and other interventions, and we are leveraging that to promote President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda," he said.

Asagunla, however, disclosed that over 3,000 youths, including more than 1,000 students, were mobilised for the event, adding that plans were underway to take the campaign to campuses across the state.
