A former member of the House of Representatives, Bimbo Daramola, has declared his intention to return to the national Assembly, pledging a renewed commitment to the development of his constituency.

Daramola, who represented Ikole/Oye Federal Constituency between 2011 and 2015, said that his decision to return to the green chamber was driven by what he described as an enduring passion for service.

He noted that his ambition was rooted in his desire to contribute meaningfully to make life abundant for his constituents and improve their livelihood, saying his constituency needed an experienced legislator to make people-oriented laws and attract dividends of democracy to the area.

Daramola said that the challenges facing his constituency, especially in the areas of infrastructure, have compelled him to step forward once again in order to bring dividends of democracy and superlative services of quality representation to the constituents' doorsteps.

“My ambition to return to the National Assembly is driven by service. It is about what more I can do for the people, not what I stand to gain.”

Daramola noted that his commitment to public service was shaped early in life, particularly by the influence of his late father, whose values instilled in him a sense of duty and responsibility.

“If I had decided not to run again and just stay away, my father would have turned in his grave. He believed that those who can make a difference must step forward. That belief still guides me today.”

Daramola highlighted several initiatives executed during his tenure, including educational interventions, transportation support schemes, healthcare services, and empowerment programmes, which he said impacted thousands of lives across communities in the constituency.

He identified infrastructure, particularly the Ikole-Ilupeju-Oye road, as a major area of concern, pledging to prioritise it if given another opportunity to represent the constituency.

“The first thing on my table will be how to fix our roads. When roads are fixed, you improve safety, boost commerce, and make life easier for our people,” he explained.

The ex-lawmaker also outlined plans to push for strategic intervention, including the construction of alternative routes to reduce accidents and improve the ease of transportation for the betterment of the constituents.

Reiterating his commitment to people-centred representation, Daramola said that if elected, his legislative priorities would also include youth development, empowerment programmes, efficient healthcare service, and educational support.

On what distinguishes him from other aspirants, Daramola pointed to his depth of experience, competence, capacity to deliver, and track record in office, saying his stellar performance" between 2011 and 2015 positions him as a tested and reliable option for quality representation.

He added that, unlike many aspirants, his experience in the National Assembly as a lawmaker and Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the House of Representatives places him at an advantage, particularly in navigating legislative processes and attracting development projects.

“This is not about theory. I understand how the system works. I know how to get things done, and that is important,” he noted.
