The national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, tasked the party’s various support groups to transition from mere rallies to intensive grassroots voter education ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He spoke on Monday in Abuja during a national symposium organized by the pro-President Bola Ahmed Tinubu group, Integrity Group of Nigeria.

Represented by Prof. Attah Pine, the APC national chairman emphasised that the party's success hinges on its ability to effectively communicate the achievements of the President Tinubu administration to the common man.

Yilwatda underscored that voter outreach is a "core responsibility" requiring a sophisticated, professional approach. He challenged the groups to act as bridge-builders between the government and the governed.

"Voter mobilization is one of the functions of political parties, and the integrity group is expected to be at the forefront, telling Nigerians what the president has done and what he is going to do in the next four years," Yilwatda stated.

Dismissing the notion that support groups are disposable campaign tools, Yilwatda described them as a "reservoir of skilled professionals," suggesting that active participants are often prioritized when the administration seeks capable hands for official appointments.

Earlier, the Convener of the group, Dr. Okey Idawene, said the gathering was put in place to rally support for the second-term aspiration of President Tinubu come 2027.

Highlighting President Tinubu’s achievements in office, Idawene declared a "no vacancy" status for him in 2027, framing Tinubu’s leadership as a divine mandate.

"We are here to support a man helped by God. Bola Tinubu is a man prepared by God. He came prepared, and we are here to ensure that every information about the Nigerian state is effectively disseminated," Idawene told the gathering.

Idawene further cautioned the party leadership against tinkering with the political machinery that secured victory in 2023, warning that any attempt to dismantle existing alliances would be counterproductive.

"You don't change a winning team. Doing so is an error," he warned.

The immediate-past Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Chief Godfrey Uche Nnaji, who was the Chief Host of the symposium, advocated for political maturity and a culture of "politics without bitterness" as the party prepares for the upcoming electoral cycle.

The symposium concluded with a unanimous resolution from the support groups to begin immediate "door-to-door" engagement across the 774 local government areas to shore up support for the APC's agenda.
