A 23-year-old boy, Ifeoluwa Fagibowopo, has been apprehended by the Amotekun Corps for allegedly hacking his mother to death in Supare-Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area, Ondo State.

The incident, which occurred on Thursday evening, has thrown the agrarian community into mourning.

The victim, said to be a health officer, was found dead in her residence after she was reportedly attacked by her son.

Residents said the suspect was earlier seen with a stick, which raised suspicion.

One of the residents, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the incident occurred shortly after the deceased returned home to pick up an item.

Confirming the incident yesterday, the Ondo State Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, said the suspect had been arrested and had been remanded in custody.

Mr Adeleye added that the remains of the deceased had been deposited in a hospital morgue, adding that investigation into the killing had been launched.
