A 50-year-old meat seller in the Angwan-Daji area of Minna is currently in police net for allegedly using roast meat to lure and sodomize a 12-year-old boy.

The suspect, identified as Usman Abubakar, was arrested by operatives attached to 'A' Division after the victim's mother noticed her son was in visible agony, nursing bruises on his buttocks and unable to sit properly.

When questioned, the traumatised boy fingered the local meat seller as his attacker.

Police sources confirmed that during interrogation, Abubakar confessed to the "unnatural offence," admitting he habitually used grilled meat from his stall to entice the minor into his shop for the act.

The suspect remains in custody while the victim undergoes medical examination to assess the extent of his injuries.

Reacting to the disturbing wave of sexual violence in the state, the Niger State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, condemned the act as a grave case of gross indecency.

The Police Commissioner vowed that the Command would ensure a thorough investigation and swift prosecution of the suspect to serve as a deterrent.

Reiterating his commitment to child safety, Elleman announced collaboration with the Child Rights' Agency, Ministry of Women Affairs, and FIDA to shield minors from predators.

He further issued a stern charge to parents and guardians to maintain a hawk-eyed watch over their children to protect them from such criminal elements hiding in plain sight.
