80 indigent Anambra students hail group over payment of JAMB, WAEC fees
Eighty indigent students have expressed gratitude to Joseph Onuorah Foundation (JOF) for sponsoring their 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), as well as West African Examinations Council (WAEC) registrations
Eighty indigent students have expressed gratitude to Joseph Onuorah Foundation (JOF) for sponsoring their 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), as well as West African Examinations Council (WAEC) registrations in Anambra State.
The beneficiaries comprising 55 indigent students and 25 deserving candidates sitting for both examinations were drawn from communities across Orumba North and South local governments.
They hailed the foundation for finding them worthy of the sponsorship, describing the gesture as timely and life-changing.
The students pledged to study and remain disciplined in their academic endeavours, to justify the confidence reposed in them.
“We thank the benefactor for easing the financial burden that would have hindered our academic pursuits. This gesture will renew our confidence and determination to succeed.
“We’ll also justify the investment made in our education, and the noble aspirations of the foundation toward building a better future through learning and human capital development,” they said.

Founder of the group, Dr Joseph Onuorah, described the initiative as part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to promote access to education and guarantee equal opportunities for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
He said the intervention reaffirmed the foundation’s sustained commitment to educational advancement and youth empowerment across Anambra State.
Onuorah added: “This initiative forms part of the foundation’s broader mission to support young Nigerians, whose academic ambitions are often constrained by financial hardship.
“By removing the financial burden associated with JAMB and WAEC registration, the foundation is giving these students a fair opportunity to pursue tertiary education and compete on equal footing with their peers.
“The beneficiaries were selected through a transparent, merit-based and community-driven process, ensuring the support reached students who genuinely required assistance.
“The programme reflects the foundation’s strong conviction that education remains the most sustainable pathway to breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering long-term national development.

“Investment in education today is a strategic investment in the future of Anambra State, Southeast and Nigeria at large.
“The registration was fully supervised by the Project Manager, Mr. Owuh Victor Kelechi.”
The JOF, established in 2015 by Onuorah, is a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting less-privileged people of Anambra State through education, youth development and social intervention programmes.
Similarly, over 500 indigent students of Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Anambra State, have benefited from the generosity of Eric Anyamene Foundation.
The students’ JAMB form fees were paid by the foundation, which also promised to place those with highest scores on scholarship.

Founder of the group, Eric Anyamene, an engineer, said he intended extending the number of students to 800 and 1000 within the year.
He said: “We started this year JAMB by paying for 500 students’ forms fees across Idemili North and South.
“Anyone who scores highest and gets admission will be placed on scholarship. If you score the highest, you will not bother your parents because once you are the best student, I pay your school fees.
“Currently I have 20 students on scholarship, those who scored highest and got admitted. If you study hard, score the highest and get admission, I’ll pay for your school fees.
“Today we want to pay for up to 800 students and we are hoping to pay for 1,000 this year.”
