Future-X Unilever Campus Ambassadors Programme (FUCAP), in partnership with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has empowered over 900,000 young Nigerians with employability, digital and entrepreneurial skills.

The programme began about two and a half years ago and is designed to equip young people with skills to compete in the modern labour market.

It operates through UNICEF’s Youth Agency Marketplace digital platform, with social media engagement and campus networks in tertiary institutions.

The initiative is part of Generation Unlimited, a global public-private partnership, chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, aimed at connecting young people with education, skills and employment opportunities.

Managing Director of Unilever Nigeria Plc, Tobi Adeniyi, said the programme combines digital learning with on-campus engagement to expand access to career development opportunities for students.

According to him, over 85,000 students have been reached through 30 physical career seminars organised in universities and polytechnics by trained Unilever Future Career Ambassadors in collaboration with partner institutions.

Adeniyi noted that the initiative focuses on helping young people acquire practical skills and career guidance to improve their job prospects.

Chief of UNICEF Lagos Office and Lead for Generation Unlimited Nigeria, Celine Lafoucriere, said the partnership seeks to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements.

She said the programme in 20 universities, provides students with training, digital skills and guidance and facilitate their transition into jobs.
