I still remember clearly the first time I met you in 2007 at your home in Bourdillon. I had come with a simple but ambitious request — to seek your endorsement for a book I hoped to write about your leadership.
Sitting across from you in your office, I spoke with a mixture of admiration and bold optimism about Asiwaju and the Concepts of Leadership, convinced even then that your political journey would one day stand shoulder to shoulder with the legacies of Chief Awolowo and Chief Abiola. I also felt deeply that it would be unfortunate for two people living in the same era not to cross paths — and I left that meeting fulfilled, even though you graciously declined the book and humbly remarked that you could not step into their shoes, preferring instead to allow God to shape and define your own path.
Over the years, that humility has remained consistent with the strength of your convictions. You have shown a rare ability to build bridges where others preferred to erect walls, opening doors of opportunity for many Nigerians who had long been told to remain patient on the margins. You have never hesitated to take a stand or confront opposition when necessary. While your ideas and methods have often sparked debate, they have always reflected courage and an unwavering belief in progress.

Those who observed your years in opposition will recall how firmly you stood in the most demanding arenas, advocating for democracy at moments when uncertainty was widespread and trust was fragile. You did not rely on institutional power but on the authority of conviction. A defining moment came when you stepped into the national arena to contest for the presidency. Whether applauded or challenged, you remained steadfast — a determined advocate for your beliefs and a persistent voice for change.
Today, the arena has been conquered. The lion now stands on secure ground, yet the mission continues. The responsibility of leadership remains as important as ever, guiding those who believe in the vision you have helped shape. I pray that the strength of your voice continues to resonate for generations to come. Truly, there will never be another Jagaban.
Thank you, Asiwaju, for the struggles you have endured, the victories you have secured, and the hope you have inspired. The promise of renewed hope is now a flame entrusted to all of us, and we must ensure that it continues to shine brightly even in challenging times.
Your Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as you celebrate your 74th birthday, I pray that Allah grants you abundant joy, peace, wisdom, and strength. May this new chapter bring continued good health, fulfillment, and accomplishments. May your legacy remain a source of inspiration, and may your leadership continue to serve as a guiding light for our nation.
