Traditional rulers of Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State have conferred the traditional chieftaincy title of Ike Oha (Strength of the People) 1 of Umunneochi Local Government Area of the state on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The chieftaincy title was conferred on President Tinubu on Friday at Amuda, Isuochi in Umunneochi Local Government Area of the state by the Traditional Rulers' Advisory Council, led by His Royal Majesty Eze Franklin Ohalezim.

The title was received on behalf of the President by the National Welfare Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Donatus Nwankpa, during the homecoming/civic reception of Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.

The traditional rulers, giving reasons for bestowing President Tinubu such a title, thanked the President for his trust and for giving their daughter, Hon. Onyejeocha, the opportunity to serve in his government as Minister of State of Labour and Employment.

They also commended the APC led government for tackling the erosion menace that was ravaging the community.

Responding on behalf of President Tinubu, Nwankpa thanked the traditional rulers for honouring the President.

He also commended the traditional rulers for recognising the contributions made by the immediate past Minister of State for Labour and Employment.

Speaking after she was conferred with the "Anyanwu Na Enye Ihe" (the light that shines for all), thanked her people for finding her worthy to be honoured, stressing that it goes a long way to show how much she was loved among her people.

She noted that the encouragement of traditional rulers inspired her legislative advocacy aimed at strengthening their role in governance, while her upbringing and education influenced her continued investment in scholarships and humanitarian initiatives for indigent citizens.

Onyejeocha, who thanked the President for finding her competent to serve and also allowing her to work without any interference, disclosed her intention to contest for the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency for the fifth time.

Reaffirming political loyalty, Onyejeocha said the people of Umunneochi remained appreciative of President Tinubu for both her appointment and federal interventions in the area.

She pledged sustained support for his administration and expressed confidence that the constituency would contribute significantly to his re-election prospects in 2027.
