A Abuja-based disc jockey, VDJ Modi, has completed a 72-hour continuous performance in an attempt to set a new Guinness World Records benchmark, describing the feat as both physically draining and personally rewarding.
Speaking after the marathon session, the DJ, whose real name is Amaobi Udeh, said the experience left her exhausted but fulfilled after months of rigorous preparation.
The Nation reports that the event, tagged Mobi’s Mixathon, featured an uninterrupted DJ set that ran for three consecutive days under strict technical guidelines required for Guinness World Records validation.
“I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude and relief. Standing here after 72 hours, the physical exhaustion is real, but the mental fulfilment is on another level.
"I am proud of the consistency we maintained; we didn't just play music, we curated an experience that stayed high-energy until the very last second.
"To see a vision that started as a draft on paper turn into a successful 72-hour reality gives me a deep sense of peace and personal victory,” VDJ Mobi said.
He credited the audience for sustaining momentum throughout the event, noting that the response challenged common perceptions about nightlife engagement in the Federal Capital Territory FCT).
“The response was electric and, honestly, quite humbling. The Abuja crowd completely shattered the stereotype that they are ‘reserved.’
"They were the heartbeat of this marathon. Whether it was the early morning shifts or the final stretch, the energy from the people on the ground was what kept my hands moving. I have to say, Abuja has a soul and a loyalty that is unmatched, they carried me on their shoulders through every hour,” she said.
On compliance with record guidelines, VDJ Mobi expressed confidence that the attempt met all required standards, citing detailed documentation and coordinated support throughout the process.
“We were incredibly disciplined with the GWR protocols, from the logbooks to the witness transitions. I am very hopeful because we didn't take any shortcuts.
"This success was only possible because of the incredible environment provided by our sponsors, Graysyon suites and apartments , and the unwavering commitment of our support partner, Kairos Hof, along with all our other partners who ensured the logistics were seamless.
"With that level of support and our strict adherence to the rules, I am confident that VDJ Mobi will be officially etched into the Guinness World Records,” he said.
Beyond the record attempt, he said the event was designed to advance advocacy for the girl-child, using entertainment as a platform to reach a wider audience.
“I believe we made a significant impact. This wasn't just about entertainment; it was a 72-hour broadcast for a cause. We used the platform to emphasise that the girl child deserves every opportunity to dream and achieve as much as I just did.
"By weaving that message into the fabric of the event, we reached people who might not have listened to a traditional lecture but heard us through the power of music and resilience. The conversation has started, and we will continue to amplify it,” he added.
He also advised aspiring record breakers to focus on purpose and preparation, stressing that endurance challenges require more than ambition.
“My message is, your ‘why’ must be stronger than your fatigue. There will be hours, usually between 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM, where your body tells you to stop. If you are doing it just for fame, you might quit. But if you are doing it for a cause, for your city, or to prove something to yourself, you will find the strength.
"Prepare meticulously, respect the protocols, and build a team that believes in you more than you believe in yourself,” he said.
