The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has dismissed reports of a purported change in its leadership.
It described the claim as false, unconstitutional and of no effect.
In a statement yesterday in Kaduna by its Chairman, Mike Mamman Osuman, the forum said the announcement of any leadership change did not emanate from its recognised organs.
ACF urged its members, the media, and the public to disregard the information.
The statement stressed that the leadership neither approved nor had knowledge of any such development.
It said the alleged action behind the announcement contravened its constitution and did not follow laid-down procedures for leadership selection.
ACF said only its General Assembly is empowered to approve leaders, adding that the body had not been convened to fill any vacancy.
It explained that the forum’s Board of Trustees (BoT) has no constitutional authority to effect leadership changes, as its role is limited to offering advisory guidance on the organisation’s aims and objectives.
ACF also faulted claims surrounding the setting up of a constitution review process, insisting that only its National Executive Committee (NEC) is empowered to establish operational committees.
Clearing the air on the issue of a Leadership Selection Committee, the forum said the body is an ad hoc creation of the NEC, adding that the last committee completed its assignment in 2023 and has since been dissolved.

According to the forum, any individual or group claiming to exercise powers under such a committee is acting outside constitutional provisions and will not be recognised by the forum.
The statement reaffirmed that Murtala Aliyu remains the Secretary-General until a successor emerges through due process, warning that only authorised publicity officers can speak for the organisation.
ACF expressed concern over what it called clandestine efforts to create a leadership crisis within the body, assuring members that its leadership remained committed to safeguarding the forum’s integrity and urging calm among stakeholders.
