Civic and accountability advocacy platform, Ondo Redemption Front, has decried rising insecurity in Ondo State.
Speaking at its State of the State Monthly news conference, Chairman, Ayodeji Ologun, and co-Chair, Kayode Mogbojuri, said the situation has worsened, with protests from parts of the state.
The group noted that communities are calling on the governor to act on the wave of insecurity. It said when citizens protest to demand safety, it is clear that the system has failed to protect its people.
It said beyond security, there are concerns about coordination, discipline, and accountability in the administration.
“The farming communities of Ondo State are becoming no-go areas. Farmers are abandoning their lands for fear of kidnapping and attacks.
“This trend poses a direct threat not only to rural livelihoods but also to food production and food security. If this continues unchecked, the state will soon feel the full economic consequences in the form of rising food prices, scarcity, and increased poverty.
“Ondo State must present a clear, coordinated, and time-bound security strategy to address rising kidnapping and violent crimes.
“Steps must be taken to secure farming communities and rural areas, including deployment of security personnel and support systems to restore confidence and prevent disruption to food production.
“The governor must publicly address concerns surrounding conduct and accountability of key officials in his administration, including Ministry of Finance, and restore discipline, transparency, and public trust.

“The government must move beyond press statements and ensure that all approved projects in the health sector are fully implemented, with immediate investment in staffing, equipment, and infrastructure across public healthcare facilities.
“A comprehensive intervention plan must be introduced for the education sector, addressing institutional instability, staff welfare, and student conditions across all levels of education.
“The government must publish detailed and accessible financial records, including local government allocations and expenditures, to promote transparency and allow residents to track the use of public funds.
“Clear performance benchmarks must be established in ministries, departments, and agencies, with periodic public reporting to ensure accountability and measurable progress.
“The administration of Governor Aiyedatiwa must demonstrate a renewed commitment to governance by prioritising service delivery over political distractions, ensuring that leadership is present, responsive, and focused on the needs of the people.”
