The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has congratulated Senator Tony Nwoye on his emergence as Senate Minority Whip, describing the development as a reflection of his credibility and capacity.
In a statement yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the appointment signals growing confidence in the ADC as a platform for opposition politics.
The party said Nwoye’s elevation comes at a time when Nigeria’s democracy requires stronger accountability and effective legislative engagement, noting that his role would contribute to strengthening parliamentary oversight.

According to the statement, the development also highlights the ADC’s intention to play a more active role in deepening democratic practice and advancing responsible opposition.
The party expressed confidence that Nwoye would bring diligence to the position and contribute to the work of the National Assembly.
It added that the development aligns with its preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections, where it intends to present itself as an alternative political platform.
