A new faction within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has surfaced, distancing itself from the coalition led by David Mark and the group associated with Nafiu Bala.
The faction, led by Don Norman Obinna, claims to represent the legitimate National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party and said it is intervening to manage party affairs ahead of the next national convention.

At a briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, Obinna’s group questioned the legitimacy of the former leadership, noting that Ralph Nwosu’s tenure ended in August 2022 and citing multiple litigations over his refusal to step down.
The faction also clarified Nafiu Bala’s position, asserting that he never held the office of National Vice Chairman within the party.
It further affirmed that former ADC presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu, remains a member of the party.
The group disclosed that it has appointed interim leaders to oversee party activities, ensuring continuity pending the conduct of a national convention.
