The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has distanced itself from purported plans by some individuals to convene congresses in certain states, insisting that no such exercise has been approved by the party.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said the party would not hold any congresses until the expiration of the current executives' tenure, in line with a subsisting Federal High Court ruling.
“We wish to clarify that, based on the subsisting ruling of the Federal High Court, the ADC is not conducting any congresses until the tenure of the current executives expires,” the statement said.

The party warned members against participating in any purported congresses, describing the move as an attempt to destabilise the party and create confusion within its ranks.
“We therefore urge loyal party members to disregard any invitations to attend such congresses, as they are merely machinations by agents of destabilisation seeking to cause confusion within the party,” the statement added.
The ADC reaffirmed its commitment to due process and internal party stability, urging members to remain law-abiding and loyal to the party leadership.
