Supporters of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and ex-Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have unveiled a political pressure group, the Obi–Kwankwaso Movement, as permutations intensify ahead of the presidential primary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The group, announced in Abuja on Monday, said it has already established structures across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with state and zonal coordinators appointed to drive mobilisation, signalling an early push to shape the party’s internal dynamics.

However, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, downplayed concerns over internal realignments, insisting that such developments pose no threat to party cohesion or its electoral preparations.

“The party is not worried. It is not unusual for party members to express their preferences, as long as they are not flouting any party rules,” he told The Nation.

In a statement, the movement’s National Publicity Secretary, Justin Ijeh, described the platform as a coalition bringing together members of the Obidient Movement, Kwankwasiyya, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), and the ADC.

Addressing journalists, Ijeh said the initiative represents a coordinated political effort ahead of forthcoming contests, drawing its strength from multiple grassroots networks.

“Nigeria stands at a defining crossroads. Today, as our people endure the weight of unprecedented economic hardship, the soaring cost of living, and the persistent shadow of insecurity, the Obi–Kwankwaso (OK) Movement formally unveils its national and state structures.”

Efforts to obtain a response from the media office of  former Vice President and ADC chieftain, Atiku Abubakar, seeking his reaction to the development and his prospects for the party’s presidential ticket proved unsuccessful as of press time.
