The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area chapter in Lagos, has announced the expulsion of Hon. George Olawande Adegeye, the member representing Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, over alleged anti-party activities, insubordination and usurpation of party structures.

The decision was conveyed in a letter jointly signed by the party’s LGA executive members, led by Ward Chairman, Hon. Ola Olajide; Secretary, Hon. Faith Kelechi; and Women Leader, Hon. Wisdom Ajogu, alongside eight other officials.

The letter, dated Wednesday, April 8, 2026, followed an emergency general meeting held in Ward B, Festac Town, Lagos.

Titled “Letter of Expulsion of Hon. George Olawande Adegeye from ADC,” the document condemned what the party described as a blatant violation of its constitutional provisions by the lawmaker.

The chapter accused Adegeye of engaging in actions detrimental to the smooth operation of the party at both the ward and local government levels.

It further alleged that the lawmaker had not formally joined the party, despite his involvement in its affairs, and had continued to undertake activities considered inconsistent with party discipline and structure.

“That he has not recognised the lawfully instituted leaderships of the party at the ward and LGA levels, thereby instigating insurbordination and indiscipline within the party.

“That he has not met the 2026 Electoral Act (as amended) provision as it concerns the required duration for eligibility to vote and be voted for.

“Our records show that he filled his membership Form on March 2, 2026 and submitted same by proxy on March 12, 2026.

“That on Saturday, April 4, 2026, the HOR Member deceptively organised a party event without carrying along the legitimate party leaderships at the ward and LGA levels, thereby exciting a crisis of confidence on leaderships at both levels.”

The expulsion letter further highlighted the alleged anti party moves of Adegeye.

“We also, have it on good authority that majority of those who attended the event were APC sympathisers, thus raising big suspicion as to which party Hon. Adegeye owes his loyalty--the ADC or the APC?

“That he literally hijacked the functions of the Lagos State Harmonization Committee by single-handedly determining those whose names appeared on the Harmonised List, which led the properly constituted ADC Representatives to distance themselves from the fake list instigated by and sponsored by him.

“That he has sinister plans to replace properly constituted leadership of the party at both the ward and LGA levels.

“That these activities of Omogeye are viewed as anti party activities as clearly articulated in Article 22 of the Constitution of the African Democratic Congress(ADC).

“Consequent upon the afore-mentioned reasons, a voice vote of all members in attendance at the Emergency Meeting, hereby hold and validate the expulsion of Hon. George Adegeye from the party and he stands expelled.”

Efforts to get reaction from Adegeye was unsuccessful as he didn't not reply the text message sent to him.
