The David Mark-led faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has entered the final phase of preparations for its national convention with arrangements in advanced stages.

This arose in the fave of the ongoing leadership disputes, legal challenges and the withdrawal recognition by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to the Mark-led and the Nafiu Bala Gombe factions of the party. Party sources said the convention, scheduled for Wednesday, will proceed, with organisers indicating that internal processes have been activated and structures put in place to deliver the exercise.

The preparation process formally started with the inaugural meeting of the convention planning committees held on April 9 at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, signalling what officials described as a coordinated effort to ensure a seamless event.

However, as part of the build-up, the party approved an expanded broad-based Convention Planning Committee structure, anchored by a central coordination team and multiple sub-committees handling critical aspects of the convention.

The party named former Cross River State governor, Liyel Imoke as chair of the 126-member National Convention Central Coordination Committee, which serves as the secretariat for the planning process.

Former House of Representatives Speaker Aminu Tambuwal has been named the Deputy Chairman and Ajuji Ahmed the Secretary.
