ADC’s war on Amupitan’s integrity

It is sad that many PDP members who destroyed their once invincible party that boasted of an uninterrupted 60 years rule but today take refuge in ADC are shameless, treacherous just as they are deficient in moral soundness. They in 1993 scuttled the country’s democratization process by championing the annulment of the result of the most credible election in Nigeria history, only to re-emerge in 1999 proclaiming themselves vanguards of democracy.
But like Adolf Hitler, they only wanted to capture power through democracy and then use democracy to destroy democracy. Obasanjo, their leader who disregarded democratic ethos including dialogue and compromise, declared he would only listen to God instead of appointed advisers, was an autocrat. By 2007, he had through PDP ‘mainstreaming’ experiment captured 31 of the nation’s 36 governors with five later retrieved through the judiciary.
Unrestrained by National Assembly probe reports and judiciary pronouncements that indicted them for electoral offences and financial malfeasance, their endless war of attrition over spoils of war had by 2026 fragmented the party into Wike-led PDP, Turaki PDP faction and Atiku Abubakar and David Mark-led ADC.
Although it is said ‘no one can give what they do not have’ (Nemo dat quod non habet), ADC, whose leaders’ integrity has come under serious questioning is today waging a war of integrity against INEC’s Joash Amupitan through a deliberate, premeditated effort to destroy his reputation and credibility through malicious criticism and outright lies. This parasitic group of self-serving politicians, led by Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi and Rauf Aregbesola, by asking Amupitan to resign, was bent on undermining the integrity of the 2027 election
And this is Amupitan who is widely acknowledged to be a ‘distinguished academic, eminent legal practitioner, and thoroughbred administrator”. His journey through the legal profession was marked by consistent academic excellence. His extensive expertise in law and corporate governance is seen as crucial in navigating the complex legal and administrative challenges inherent in managing elections across the diverse Nigerian landscape. On his part, he assured Nigerians that INEC under him will be committed to “to delivering free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive elections that reflect the will of the Nigerian people”.

ADC’s misplaced aggression stemmed from mismanagement of PDP, its original party, through fragrant disregard for party constitution and disobedience of judicial pronouncements, vices they carried over to ADC. And this has only resulted in prolonged disagreement between original owners of ADC and David Mark and his group of hijackers. Today, ADC like PDP, is fragmented into three factions: one led by Mark representing the coalition bloc, another led by Gombe, and a NEC-backed group aligned with Kachikwu and headed by Kingsley Ogga.
On April 1, INEC announced the delisting of key ADC figures, including Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its official register. The commission explained that the action was taken in compliance with a court order directing it to preserve the status quo ante bellum pending the final determination of the case at the trial court. Mark called for Amupitan’s resignation on April 2 and maintained that the party would proceed with its scheduled activities.
Even if the claim by David Mark that the interpretation of “return to status quo ad bellum” by Amupitan (SAN) his INEC team of lawyers and their outside consultants was wrong, Mark knew the place to seek redress is in the courts and not in defiance of the judicial process or in deployment of military tactics and threats to undermine the 2027 elections.
Now let us once again take a journey through history for the sake of Nigerian youths below 35 years of age, the target of ADC, to interrogate the antecedents of those today trying to give what they don’t have.
David Mark has never been a democrat. He never denied claiming he would personally shoot MKO Abiola if his annulled pan Nigeria mandate was de-annulled.
It is also on record that Senator Bukola Saraki publicly admitted that he literarily stole the leadership of the senate. He confessed hiding inside a car in front of the senate building, patiently waited for his fellow APC elected senators to go for a meeting with Buhari, the president-elect, before sneaking into the Red chambers to be adopted senate president by minority PDP elected senators. He also admitted trading off the deputy senate presidency to Ike Ekwerenmadu. David Mark admitted this Saraki coup was planned and executed in his sitting room all through the night.
And the last time, Mark who is today trying to soil INEC chairman’s reputation had an opportunity to preside over PDP primary election in 2023, he according to Nyesom Wike, rigged it in favour of Atiku Abubakar.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has also questioned the integrity of Amupitan whose INEC he accused of being used “to frustrate the will of the people”.
It is on record that VP Atiku and Nasir El Rufai presided over the mismanaged privatization policy where Nigeria’s total investment of about $100 billion was given away for $1.5 billion. The duo was indicted by a National Assembly probe. It is also on record that President Obasanjo, writing the testimonial of his VP describes him as untrustworthy and that God would not forgive him if he ever supported his presidential ambition.
Rotimi Amaechi was in government for the past 24 years, as Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, governor and super Minister of Transport. He became hungry and angry after losing APC 2023 presidential primary he had thought Buhari reserved for him. Amaechi has no abiding faith in anything or anyone. He betrayed PDP when he wanted to become chairman of governor’s forum. He betrayed the party that gave him opportunity to fulfil his dream for 24 years. The latest victim of Amaechi, the fair weather politician, is APC which he again dumped for ADC a few months back.
Rauf Aregbesola impugned Amupitan’s character by declaring that “The ADC does not, and will never owe its existence to any individual or group, including an electoral body masquerading as a neutral umpire with its leadership in the attire of political partisanship’’ Here is a man who was rehabilitated by Bola Tinubu who twice appointed him Commissioner of Works in Lagos State and who with the help of Pa Bisi Akande later sponsored him for governorship of Osun State.
When Obasanjo and Oyinlola, through ‘mainstreaming’ experiment stole his mandate, Tinubu brought in scores of fingerprint experts from Britain who succeeded after three years in proving before the judiciary that his mandate was stolen. Yet it took a slight disagreement between godson and godfather for the former to betray APC on whose back he twice rode to power. This man, who now talks of character, went on to support the PDP opposition candidate who later issued a public statement acknowledging his contribution to his victory. He did not only mount a strong opposition to the presidential ambition of his estranged godfather, he is today calling for his resignation on account of what he describes the “deteriorating insecurity and economic hardship in Nigeria”.
Add Dino Melaiye with his reckless bravery to the list and the picture of parasites exploiting Nigeria instability is complete.
