The Secretary to the Ondo State Government (SSG), Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, has declared his intention to contest the Ondo Central Senatorial seat.

Taiwo, who is the son of Afenifere's foremost leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, made this known in a statement obtained by The Nation on Friday.

The Ondo Central seat is currently held by Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who is seeking re-election.

"I, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, hereby formally express my interest in contesting for the position of Senator representing the good people of Ondo Central Senatorial District.

"This decision is borne out of a deep sense of responsibility, a lifelong commitment to public service and an unwavering belief in the immense potential of our people," he said.

Fasoranti noted that his over three decades of service in the medical profession had shaped his understanding of leadership, which he said is rooted in compassion, discipline, and responsiveness to the needs of the people.

He recalled his years at the State House Medical Centre, Abuja, where he rose to the directorate cadre before retiring in 2024, adding that his experience in health sector administration and his current role as SSG have equipped him with the necessary insight into governance, policy implementation, and service delivery.

According to him, these experiences have strengthened his capacity to contribute meaningfully to national development while ensuring effective representation for Ondo Central.

Fasoranti said he is motivated by the desire to promote people-oriented representation and to consolidate the dividends of democracy across communities in the district.

"I am motivated by the desire to promote people-centric representation and to contribute to the consolidation of the dividends of democracy across our communities. I believe that governance must be practical, inclusive, and impactful, touching lives in tangible ways and creating opportunities for growth and development.

"Beyond public service, my engagements in humanitarian and professional initiatives have further reinforced my commitment to improving lives, strengthening systems, and building sustainable structures that benefit society. I remain guided by values of humility, integrity, and dedication; principles that have shaped my personal and professional life.

"As I step forward in this journey, I do so with a clear vision: to provide purposeful representation, to listen to the aspirations of our people, and to translate those aspirations into meaningful action at the national level," Fasoranti said.

Reaffirming his guiding principles of

humility, integrity, and dedication, Fasoranti said he is stepping into the race with a clear vision to provide purposeful representation and translate the aspirations of the people into meaningful legislative action.

He, therefore, appealed for the support, trust, and prayers of the people of Ondo West, Ondo East, Ifedore, Akure South, Akure North, and Idanre Local Government Areas, which make up the Ondo Central Senatorial District.
