The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna, has graduated 3,000 students across its combined 2nd, 3rd, and 4th convocation ceremonies, while also announcing a major expansion of its postgraduate programmes.

Commandant of the institute, Air Vice Marshal Adeniran Ademuwagun, disclosed this at a press conference ahead of the ceremonies scheduled for March 26 to 28, 2026. Activities lined up include COREN induction, exhibitions, project commissioning, and convocation lectures.

A breakdown of the graduates shows that 2,112 students completed programmes accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC), 729 under the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), while 159 graduated from the School of Postgraduate Studies.

The Commandant noted that 513 of the graduates are from Aerospace Engineering and Aircraft Engineering Technology, describing the disciplines as critical to the Nigerian Air Force and the nation’s aviation industry.

He further revealed that 305 students graduated with first-class honours, 146 obtained distinctions in NBTE programmes, while 51 recorded distinctions at the postgraduate level.

On overall performance, Oluwole Winner Oluwatimilehin of Aerospace Engineering, Ahmed Amrah Abdulkadir of Cyber Security, and Babalola-Jacobs David Oluwasegun of Physics emerged as best graduating students, each with a near-perfect CGPA of 4.99.

The institute also announced a significant expansion of its academic offerings, with master’s degree programmes increased from two to 12, while postgraduate diploma programmes have grown from four to 12.

Ademuwagun said the expansion aims to position AFIT as a leading centre for advanced technology education and research to support the operational and strategic needs of the Nigerian Air Force.

Meanwhile, the institute inducted its engineering graduates into the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) as part of activities marking the convocation ceremonies.
