Disc jockey and record producer Imohiosen Patrick, popularly known as DJ Neptune, has raised alarm over the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in music, predicting it may soon displace traditional music producers and mastering engineers.

Neptune made the remark while reacting to a post by media personality N6 who expressed shock at the capabilities of AI tools after witnessing what he described as “scary tinz” in music production.

“AI is quietly about to retire the entire music production and mastering industry. I have seen scary things tonight. God help all of us in this ecosystem,” N6 wrote on X.

In his response, DJ Neptune shared a personal encounter that left him stunned.

He recounted how a song was recently sent to him for feedback.

Impressed by the track’s exceptional quality, he advised the sender to sign the “artiste.”

“Someone sent me a record to listen to some days ago and give him feedback.

“After listening, I told the guy to sign the artist cos what I heard was out of this world. That’s how my guy said na AI work. E shook me o,” Neptune wrote on X.

AI tools are increasingly being used by both emerging and established musicians to generate beats, refine vocals, enhance sound quality, and even create full tracks in record time.

What once required hours or days in the studio can now be achieved through sophisticated prompts and algorithms.

However, the development has sparked intense debate among industry stakeholders.

Critics argue that over-reliance on AI raises serious questions about authenticity, emotional depth, authorship, and the soul of music.

Many insist that human imperfection, cultural context, and lived experiences remain irreplaceable in creating truly resonant art.

Supporters, on the other hand, view AI as a powerful democratising tool that can lower barriers for upcoming talents and allow producers to focus more on creative vision rather than technical repetition.
