AIFUE VC praises Tinubu over prompt payment of salaries

Vice Chancellor of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education (AIFUE), Owerri Prof. Stella Ngozi Lemchi, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring regular payment of staff salaries and allowances.
She commended President Tinubu for prioritising staff welfare, adding that the administration has done so well ensuring that the university pays its staff regularly.
“This administration has prioritised staff welfare and we are grateful to the Federal Government and its agencies for ensuring that salaries, allowances and other staff welfare packages are paid regularly.

“I proudly announce that our university is one of the first to pay the recently approved Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA) to academic staff. I commended President Tinubu for his approval and Swift release of the CATA,” she said.
She disclosed at the matriculation ceremony of 2,121 new students.

Addressing the matriculants at the University Pavillion, Prof. Lemchi, welcomed the students, comprising 2,066 Bachelor’s degree students and 55 Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) student.
She said: “Matriculation is more than a colourful ceremony; it is a sacred rite of passage into the community of scholars.”

Prof. Lemchi emphasized the importance of academic excellence, integrity, and responsibility.
She urged students to be proactive, seek mentorship, and avoid social vices, stressing that success is a daily habit and not a miracle.
“A university degree is awarded to those who are found ‘worthy in character and in learning’.
“Treat your time as a treasure, because once you spend it, it never return. Choose friends who push you to be better, and avoid those who lead you into the trap of procrastination.
“Stay away from the darkness of cultism, it offers nothing but the destruction of your dreams and life. Stay away from drug abuse, cyber, fraud, prostitution, gambling and all other hollow promises of quick riches that only steal your health and your sanity,” she stated.
The vice chancellor highlighted the university’s achievements, including upgraded hostel facilities and the introduction of new programmes. She commended the state Governor, Hope Uzodimma, for his support and encouraged students to strive for excellence.
As the students took the Matriculation Oath, they pledged to uphold the university’s values and traditions. The ceremony marked a new chapter in their academic journey, one that promises growth, innovation, and success.
