With a charge to personnel to maintain professionalism and discipline, Assistant Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu on Tuesday took over headship of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos.

Disu, known for his people-centred and community-driven policing, succeeded AIG Margaret Ochalla, currently on a professional training programme in the United States.

Addressing his officers after taking over, AIG Disu, whose last posting in Lagos was as Commander, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), said he was excited to be back.

He thanked the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun for counting him worthy to head the FCID Annex, pledging to strengthen the investigative and operational capacities of the department.  AIG Disu also pledged a zero-tolerance approach to corruption, calling on all stakeholders to support the police in the fight against crime and the promotion of justice.

A native of Lagos State, AIG Disu is a senior police officer with over three decades of experience in operational, investigative, Administrative and strategic policing. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Education from Lagos State University, multiple Master’s degrees in Public Administration and Criminology, Security and Legal Psychology, as well as an Advanced Diploma in Forensic Investigation.

He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 and has since served in key leadership roles nationwide, including Commander Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Ondo and Rivers; Commander RRS, Head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory (FTC), CP Admin at the Force Headquarters, Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the IGP, as well as AIG in charge of the Special Protection Unit.

His leadership of RRS between 2015 and 2021 earned national and regional applause for humane policing, urban crime control, and operational excellence, such that the unit was branded "the good guys".
