Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has sacked his political aides in a sweeping move aimed at enhancing efficiency within his administration.

The affected aides include Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) to the Governor.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, said the directive takes immediate effect.

“The governor thanked them for their contributions to the development of the state thus far and wished them well in their future endeavours,” the statement read.

In a move to strengthen coordination and inject fresh capacity into the administration, the governor is set to appoint about 1,000 new aides.

The statement said the appointments are expected to be drawn from across the 203 wards in the 18 local government areas of the state.

The development comes amid ‘political divisions’ among political appointees in the state ahead of the 2027 general election.

The division stemmed from support in the politics blocs in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) majorly between Governor Aiyedatiwa and Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Recall that in 2024, Aiyedatiwa appointed over 300 Special Assistants (SAs) and Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), explaining that the appointments were spread across the 18 local governments, 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) and 203 political wards in the state,

The governor said the appointments would further aid governance and smooth administration in the state.
