Alhaja Maimunat Ajao was invested as a matron of the Nigeria Girl Guides Association (NGGA) at a ceremony held at Amuwo Odofin Local Government, 41st Road, Festac Town, Lagos, recently. The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including Mrs. Esan Olufunke, President of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Amuwo Odofin chapter, and Honourable Salako Omotosho Razak, Executive Secretary of Education, Amuwo Odofin Local Government.

In her acceptance speech, Alhaja Ajao expressed her delight and happiness, saying, “I feel blessed that God has counted me among the matrons of Girl Guides. I encourage the girls to continue their good character, and I’ll be with them every step of the way. By the grace of God, I’ll support them in any way I can.”

Mrs. Esan Olufunke, in her welcome address, praised Alhaja Ajao as a woman of integrity, trust, and compassion. “She’s a role model, a woman who plays a role of love, caring for others,” she said. Ansa Okon Uko, former Deputy Chief Commissioner, B-Zone, also highlighted Ajao’s qualities, saying she’s “sympathetic and corrective”and also urged the government of reviving the girls guide.

Honourable Salako Omotosho Razak, the executive secretary of education Amuwo Odofin described Alhaja Ajao as a mother to everyone  She’s a blessing to all.” He emphasized the importance of reviving Girl Guides at the primary level, saying it would help female pupils develop life skills, protect themselves, and excel in their education.

The investiture ceremony highlighted the significance of Girl Guides in shaping young girls’ lives and empowering them to become responsible citizens. Alhaja Ajao’s leadership is expected to inspire and motivate the Girl Guides to excel in their endeavours.
