The Chairman of Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Idowu Akinola, has called for continuous adherence to cleanliness practices beyond the scheduled monthly sanitation exercise.

The exercise is aimed at promoting public hygiene and environmental sustainability.

Idowu, who moved round parts of the council area during the exercise, was accompanied by the Vice Chairman, Wale Fayemi; Leader of the House, Omotunde Afolabi; councillors; and members of the council’s management team led by the Council Manager, Mrs. Seriki Ayoronke.

Traditional rulers, including Baales, as well as the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Chairman of the League of Imams in the council area, also participated in the exercise, lending support to the cleanliness drive.

Residents complied with the directive as they cleaned their surroundings, desilted drainage channels and disposed of refuse appropriately across different parts of the LCDA.

Akinola stressed that environmental cleanliness remained a shared responsibility.

He warned that negligence could contribute to avoidable health challenges and looding.

He urged residents to sustain the habit of proper waste disposal and regular sanitation, noting that the monthly exercise should reinforce daily practices rather than replace them.

The council reiterated its commitment to supporting the Lagos State Government’s environmental policies and ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment for residents.
