Akwa United FC have bolstered their squad with the signing of five new players as they intensify their push for a return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The Promise Keepers, who currently sit top of Conference B in the Nigeria National League (NNL), confirmed the arrivals of forward Dada Oladimeji, midfielders Nsikak Raphael, Kingsley Uduak, and Aniebiet Sunday, as well as central defender Melvin Ebitimi.
All five players have already joined team training and featured in the club’s six mid-season friendly matches, as preparations continue for the second half of the campaign.

Club Chairman Joseph Eno expressed confidence in the quality of the new signings, urging them to integrate quickly and contribute to the club’s promotion ambitions. He reiterated Akwa United’s commitment to fulfilling the Akwa Ibom State Government’s directive of returning the club to the NPFL, assuring players of strong welfare and institutional support.
Head coach Paul Offor also backed the new recruits to make an immediate impact.
During the transfer window, the club released nine players, including midfielder Anietie Uko, who joined Mbeya Kwanza FC (Tanzania), and winger Erikan Francis, who moved to Heartland FC on loan. The remaining players returned to their parent clubs.
Akwa United will face Rovers FC of Calabar on Matchday 10 of the NNL on Sunday, 15 February 2026, at the Uyo Township Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 3:00 pm, as they aim to complete a season double over their South-South rivals.
