A communications expert and public servant, Segun Tomori, has declared his intention to contest the Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II seat in the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tomori, who recently served as Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, said in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday that his ambition is driven by a commitment to bring “fresh impetus and dynamic service” to his constituents.
He traced his political consciousness to Nigeria’s democratic struggle, particularly the events surrounding the June 12, 1993 presidential election, noting that the experience left a lasting impression on him.
“Witnessing the hope and excitement on the faces of my parents and other adults at the time struck a deep chord in me,” he said, adding that the agitation for the annulled election deepened his interest in political affairs and public discourse.
Tomori also referenced the influence of pro-democracy figures, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and NADECO activists, saying their sacrifices inspired his decision to align with the progressive political tradition in 2010.

“I made a deliberate decision to join Asiwaju Tinubu’s political family, even when it was in opposition. I was motivated by its progressive orientation and the courage of its leaders during the June 12 struggle,” he said.
He stated that his experience across both the National Assembly and the Executive arm of government over the past decade has equipped him with the institutional knowledge required for effective representation.
Tomori added that his campaign, tagged the “SET Campaign,” is anchored on Service, Excellence and Trust.
Unveiling an ambitious manifesto anchored on the "Eight Pillars of SET," the aspirant planned to focus on Community Health Outreach, Support for Women and Vulnerable Families, Youth & Sports Talent Development? Education & Schools Intervention Programmes, Infrastructure (Light Up Oshodi-Isolo II) and Legislative Focus.
Tomori emphasised that his mission extends beyond local projects to the hallowed chambers of the National Assembly, where he intends to influence policy for the broader Nigerian public.
"There is much work to be done through purposeful legislation—not only to improve the welfare of our constituents but also the lives of the average Nigerian," he remarked.
Tomori positioned himself as a bridge between the experience of the past and the energy of the future.
"I bring to this race the dynamism of youth, fresh ideas, and a proven ability to build consensus and deliver results, in complement to the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu. Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II is SET for better representation."
