Alhassan Yusuf has received widespread praise after his standout performance for New England Revolution in their victory over D.C. United in the early hours of Monday.
The midfielder scored the match-winning goal and was subsequently named in the Major League Soccer Team of the Week for Matchday 7.
Assistant coach Michael Morris described Yusuf as “amazing,” highlighting his growing importance to the team.

“He’s a fantastic player and very integral to what we want to do, both in possession and across multiple positions,” Morris said.
Yusuf attributed his improved goal return to a more advanced role this season.
“I used to play deeper, but now I get into the box more and finish attacks,” he explained. “I’m not surprised by the goals.”
The former Royal Antwerp player has already matched last season’s tally of two goals and two assists.
