In every political season, moments arise when a people must choose not just a candidate, but a path for their future. For the people of Kogi East Senatorial District, that moment is approaching again. At a time when the demands of development, representation and effective political advocacy are more pressing than ever, one name continues to resonate strongly across communities, towns and wards: Dr. Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali, fondly known as Halims.
Across the length and breadth of Kogi East, Ali has built a reputation not merely as a politician, but as a charismatic grassroots leader whose political philosophy is anchored on service, accessibility and results. His growing popularity is not accidental. It is rooted in years of consistent engagement with the people and a proven commitment to advancing their collective aspirations. For many in the district, Ali represents a bridge between the hopes of the people and the opportunities available at the centre of national power.
Ali stands out as a leading contender for the APC senatorial ticket for Kogi East due to his acceptance and strong ties with the ruling party at the centre. Known across the Igala nation as an accessible, people-oriented leader, Ali combines grassroots popularity with close rapport with the presidency, positioning him to attract federal projects and development to the district. He also brings strong legislative experience, having served two terms in the House of Representatives and at the moment the Deputy Majority Leader.
His track record in constituency development further underscores his commitment to service. Throughout Ankpa, Olamaboro and Omala local government areas, the federal constituency he represents, Ali has contributed significantly to educational development.Through the construction of schools and the provision of essential learning materials, he has helped create an enabling environment for students to thrive academically.
Infrastructure development has also featured prominently in his legislative achievements. One of his landmark projects is the Uko-Biraidu bridge, a constituency intervention that has eased access to several communities and reduced long-standing mobility challenges faced by residents in the area. The bridge has improved connectivity, boosted local commerce and addressed humanitarian concerns associated with difficult terrain and seasonal isolation.
In addition, Ali facilitated the ACReSAL erosion control project at Olubojo in Ankpa Local Government Area, demonstrating his commitment to environmental sustainability and the protection of communities from ecological degradation. His efforts in infrastructure development are equally visible in the construction of 11.5 kilometres of new roads and a 22-kilometre drainage system across his constituency, projects that have improved transportation, sanitation and general quality of life.
However, the opportunities that lie ahead for Kogi East could be even greater if Ali ascends to the Senate. As a strategic platform for lawmaking, advocacy and resource mobilisation, the Senate would enable him to attract major federal infrastructure, institutions and development programmes to the district.
With his legislative experience, strong networks and current role, Ali is well positioned to champion policies that address the socio-economic needs of Kogi East and effectively advance the interests of the Igala people at the highest level of national decision-making.
Furthermore, his elevation to the Senate would strengthen Kogi East’s voice in national politics. With strong ties within the ruling party and the National Assembly, Ali can position the district strategically where key national decisions are made. For the Igala people, this presents a golden opportunity to elect a proven leader committed to development. His leadership would ensure continuity of progress and enhance the region’s ability to secure its fair share of national resources.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, the choice before the people is clear. With Ali, Kogi East has the chance to send to the Senate a leader who understands the needs of his people, commands influence within the ruling party and possesses the experience required to deliver meaningful results.
For the Igala nation and Kogi East Senatorial District, the moment presents itself as an opportunity to consolidate progress, strengthen representation and secure a more prosperous future. With Ali, that future appears not only possible but promising.
